Commission Volunteer Opportunities

The City is seeking residents to fill volunteer positions on the following: Community Improvement Corporation, Environmental Stewardship Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, and the Urban Forestry & Beautification Commission.

The Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) was created for the purposes of advancing, encouraging, and promoting economic, commercial, residential, and civic development and specifically to implement the City Master Plan. They typically meet on the third Friday of the month at 8:00 a.m.

The Environmental Stewardship Commission advises the Administration and City Council on issues and programs related to solid waste collection, administration of recycling programs, composting, environmental education, sustainability, and stewardship. The ESC meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

The Historic Preservation Commission meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. and makes evaluations of the historic resources of the City and makes recommendations to City Council and Planning Commission for legislative action. They also meet to review applications for improvements to historic properties within the Village Historic District and individually designated properties.

The Urban Forestry & Beautification Commission advises Council on the enhancement of public properties, beautification efforts, and promotes forestry advising Council on Urban Forestry issues. They also organize and facilitate park clean-up days and tree planting events. The UFBC meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
