Oliver Road Updates
August 16, 2024
The project has been substantially completed. There are a few additional work items to be completed next week for storm water management near the intersection of Brayton Ave and the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon crosswalk signs will be installed in the next few weeks.
July 11, 2024
Pavement grinding will start Friday, July 12 and the asphalt intermediate course will start Monday, July 15. Once the intermediate course is completed the castings (sewer manholes, water valve boxes, etc) will be adjusted to grade. The surface course of asphalt will be placed once the castings are adjusted followed by a pavement rejuvenator application. Finally, the thermoplastic pavement markings will be applied once the rejuvenator is cured. All work is scheduled to be completed by August 7.

The contractor has placed 90% of the concrete for the new curbs and drive aprons on the north curb line and approximately 60% of the curb on the south side. The completion of the concrete work should occur by the end of June and will be followed by the asphalt paving. The contractor is on schedule to have all work complete before school starts.
May 10, 2024
The full depth asphalt repairs between the Springfield Pike and Brayton were completed the week of 5/6/24. The curb work is scheduled to start the week of 5/13/24. The traffic subcontractor will install the new radar traffic signal detection unit on the traffic signal at the Springfield Pike approach. This equipment takes the place of the traffic loops embedded in the pavement and provides better detection of vehicles at the intersection to control the traffic signal. Once the curb and drive apron work is completed, the entire asphalt roadway will be milled and overlayed.

A contract has been awarded to RA Miller Construction Company to construct new concrete curbs and drive aprons as well as asphalt pavement resurfacing (approximately 3” mill/fill) from Springfield Pike to Reily Rd. The roadway will be slightly widened near Hilltop Park to help accommodate school traffic. Work will start around May 1, 2024 and be completed this fall. No work is to occur on the section from Brayton to Reily while school is in session. A public meeting will be help in mid April for interested residents.
Another contract to replace lead water service lines has been awarded to Adleta Construction and this work will start immediately in order to be completed before the major roadway work starts.

Oliver Rd. will be resurfaced from Springfield Pike to Reily Rd. The scope of work will include new curbs and drive aprons as well as pavement resurfacing. The road will be slightly widened along the south curb line from Reily Rd. to the school entrance to help accommodate school parking for pickup/drop-off times. Curb ramps will be replaced at Brayton & Hillcrest. Crosswalk RRFB’s (Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons) will be installed at Brayton and Stearns Woods Walking Trail. Work will start around May 1, 2024 and be completed around September 1, 2024. No work will be permitted between Brayton and Reily while school is in session.

The Oliver Rd. project is currently out for bid. Work is scheduled to start in early spring 2024.
August 4, 2023
Oliver Rd. is scheduled to be paved in early 2024. Survey has begun with design slated for this fall, project bid this winter, construction to start spring of 2024.

The City received an Ohio Public Works Commission loan for the Oliver Road project. The scope of work will include pavement resurfacing, new curbs and driveway aprons, curb ramps and crosswalk improvements between Springfield Pike and Reily Road. Survey and design work has begun and construction is scheduled for spring or summer of 2024.
