High School Student Volunteer Program
City of Wyoming High School Student/City Volunteer Board/Commission Opportunity
The City of Wyoming is seeking members for the High School Student/City Volunteer Board to serve as a representative of the youth community, providing perspective on city initiatives and programs. This role is an opportunity for student residents to engage in civic duties, develop leadership skills, have an experiential learning experience and contribute to the betterment of the City of Wyoming.

Application Process:
- Applications will begin to be accepted starting September 15, 2025 and the completed application form is to be submitted by October 6, 2025. The application will include basic information about the student, current school and community involvement, career interests, and short essays detailing your interest in the role/committee/commission and what you hope to achieve.
- Selected applicants will be interviewed the week of October 6, 2025 and the week of October 13, 2025.
- Official City Council vote for Member selection will be on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend Meetings: Regularly attend assigned meetings, participate in discussion and contribute to the decision-making processes.
- Youth Advocacy: Represent the interests and concerns of youth residents in the community, ensuring their voices are heard in city planning and projects.
- Community Engagement: Participate in city events, community service projects, and outreach activities to promote civic engagement among peers.
- Project Involvement: Assist in planning, organizing, and executing city projects and initiatives that benefit the youth and broader community.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with board members, city officials, and the community, providing updates on projects and initiatives.
- Advisory Role: Offer insights and recommendations on policies, programs, and services that impact students and the community at large.
- Pre and post Assessment of Skills
- Monthly Submission of Learning
- Optional: Any/All Board, Commission, and City Council Meetings
Qualifications:
- Current student in good standing with Wyoming High School or other area high school.
- Current resident of the City of Wyoming.
- Interest in Civic Engagement: Show potential and a demonstrated interest in community service, civic duties, and local government.
- Leadership Skills: Show potential and ability to lead and inspire peers, work collaboratively in a team environment, and take initiative on projects.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the potential ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
- Commitment: Willingness to commit time and effort to attend meetings, participate in events, and complete assigned tasks.
