JWC of Wyoming Winter Coat Drive

If you received any new coats or winter accessories this holiday season, we will gladly take your old ones. The JWC of Wyoming is hosting a winter coat and accessories drive. Bring your new or gently used coats, gloves, scarves, hats, etc. to our next meeting at the Wyoming Civic Center, January 21 from 7 to 8:30 pm! All donations will be taken to Valley Interfaith to be given to people in need of warmer winter gear.

The Most Important Class For Your Child

Date/Time: Wednesday, January 28 at 6:30 p.m. 
Location: Wyoming Civic Center 
Cost: FREE  

The City of Wyoming is again partnering with certified dog trainer Lisa Desatnik, CPDT-KA, FFCP, FDM, CPBC, to teach young dog lovers (age 6 to 11) how to be the dog friend their dog wants them to be. Her young students will learn how dogs communicate, how to be a positive dog teacher, and how to be a safe and fun dog playmate. Certified Therapy Dog Murphy will be Lisa's helper. Here are a few lessons parents have shared about what their child learned in Lisa’s class: “cues that a dog is uncomfortable and what NOT to do with a dog”, “what different feelings look like in a dog”, and “how to read dogs”. Lisa’s next My Dog, My Best Buddy class is January 28, 2026 at 6:30 pm at our Wyoming Civic Center. It is free. Lisa offers these as community service. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Space is limited.

She is also a certified parrot behavior consultant. Lisa offers individualized dog training help for puppy raising, manners, education for kids, and help with behavioral issues. The Wyoming School Foundation’s major fundraising event, Blue, White & Brackets, is just around the corner! Held on Saturday, April 4th, 2026, at the Wyoming Civic Center, this event brings together community spirit, school pride, and vital support for the Wyoming City Schools’ tradition of educational excellence. Blue, White & Brackets will include a live auction, an online silent auction, live-streamed Final Four games, great food, an open bar, music, and pay-to-play activities. The silent auction will be open on GiveSmart for the week leading up to the event, welcoming participation from community members, alumni, and supporters nationwide.

Linoleum & Wood Cut Printmaking (3 Week Art Class for Adults)

Curious about printmaking? This three-week class is beginner-friendly, and you'll take home at least one completed project at the end. You'll carve into linoleum and wood to make "cut" designs, then apply printmaking ink to create custom prints, cards, or patches. Participants will explore the fundamentals of relief printmaking, experimenting with design, texture, and repetition as tools for creative expression. Join us to carve, ink, and print your own design! 

Embroidery: Basic Technique and Design (6-Week Art Class for Adults)

In this class, students will learn a variety of basic embroidery stitches and techniques that are used in creating embroidered pictures and projects. The stitches and techniques taught in class are the basic building blocks of embroidery and can be expanded upon in a variety of ways. Learn how to handcraft felted creations using wool. Needle felting is a versatile technique that uses only wool and a special needle to form paintings, objects, and characters of all kinds. In this online course, artist and craft enthusiast Elise Megremis shares her passion for the medium, guiding you step by step through sculpting wool from scratch to create custom characters, artwork, and objects full of personality and expression. Introduction to Pointed Pen Calligraphy (4 Week Art Class for Adults)

Learn to use a dip pen with steel nib to create the beautiful, delicate letters of the copperplate alphabet in this 4-week class. Students will learn to use a steel nib, dipped in ink, to write in this style. We will learn how to prep your nib, hold the pen, proper posture, how to warm up, and the basic strokes for the letterforms. You'll take home a completed project by the end of the class.
