Overview
The City of Wyoming has operated under the Council-Manager form of government since 1949. Under this system, the Mayor and Council, selected by non-partisan vote, are the policy-makers. A professional City Manager, appointed by City Council, supervises the implementation of their policies. Wyoming’s governing body is composed of a Mayor and six Council Members, elected at large in odd-numbered years for two-year terms. Candidates for these offices must be qualified electors of the City of Wyoming. The Mayor and Council do not have their offices at the Municipal Building but work at private jobs or businesses, meeting monthly to enact the laws and formulate the policies of the City of Wyoming.
The following information is provided for a better understanding of how the public can connect with members of the City Council and City Staff. Community engagement and public participation are incredibly valuable. Residents of all ages are encouraged to contact City Council or City Staff with any concerns, questions, or ideas. The following are ways to engage with your elected officials and City staff and to stay informed.
Citizen Participation at City Council Meetings – This is on each City Council meeting agenda and provides the opportunity for citizens to express an opinion, make a statement, address a concern, or ask a question on any subject that is not otherwise on the agenda. This will allow the statement to be entered into the official meeting record. This portion of the meeting is not for City Council to provide responses to citizen comments. If you have a question or concern and need immediate assistance, please contact a City Council member or the City Manager.
Agenda items for Council Committee of the Whole (work session) – Committee Of The Whole Agendas and Minutes. While these meetings are open to all, the purpose of these meetings is to discuss only those topics on the agenda. Discussion is among Council Members, City Administration, and invited participants. If you have a question or concern regarding an item on a Committee of the Whole agenda, please contact a City Council member or Email City Manager.
