Hike/Bike Trail Extension

The City of Wyoming has plans to extend the Hike/Bike Trail in 2023 after being awarded a grant from the Clean Ohio Trails Fund in the amount of $412,500.  The trail will extend from its current terminus at the entrance of Oak Park continuing south on Oak Avenue, cutting diagonally across the vacant lot (David Savage Way and Oak Avenue) to the south of the municipal building, and then continuing along Van Roberts Place, crossing over Wentworth Avenue, and ultimately ending at the junction of Van Roberts Place and Wyoming Avenue at the existing public parking lot.  The city plans to install a bicycle rack and benches.

The trail runs near the West Fork Mill Creek but does not have any direct impacts to the streams or stream bank as its course will run along existing sidewalk pathways.  The trail extension is approximately .4 miles and will connect the current Hike/Bike Trail to the Wyoming Business District on Wyoming Avenue.  There will be some trees/bushes that will need to be removed along existing sidewalks, but any removed vegetation will have plans to be replanted.

Ford Development will begin work after July 4 so as not to disturb the area along Oak Avenue. The plan is to start at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and Van Roberts Place and proceed towards Oak Park, basically following Van Roberts Place and Oak Avenue.

April 17, 2023

Bids were opened on April 13, 2023. Ford Development was the low bidder. A resolution to award a contract for approximately $532,000 is on the agenda for the April 17, 2023, City Council meeting.

March 1, 2023

The design is nearing completion and the project will be bid in spring 2023 with construction to start in mid-summer 2023 and be completed by late fall 2023. City crews will be removing some trees in advance of the project.

February 6, 2023

Crews will be removing live trees to make room for a portion of the Hike/Bike Trail. Trees must be removed before March due to environmental regulations. New trees will be planted once the trail is complete. Questions can be directed to Rob Nicolls at 513.821.3505.
