Compton Road Updates
November 1, 2023
The remaining surface paving is scheduled for Thursday or Friday. Once that is complete the only remaining item will be the thermoplastic pavement markings. These require 50 degree temperatures so it’s possible this work may need to carry over to the spring. If the decision is made to postpone until spring, the contractor will put down standard paint for the winter. The radar controlled stop signs will be installed when the full pavement markings are completed.
August 4, 2023
Sidewalk, driveways, and curb repairs from Poage Farm Rd. to the east corp line will be completed by August 18, 2023 at which time Compton Rd. will be open to traffic (to Hilltop Lane) until paving work starts in October. Work will start on the segment between Hilltop Ln. and the west corp limits on Monday, August 21, 2023. This section of Compton will be closed to thru traffic at that time.
July 9, 2023
Sidewalk and driveway work is mostly completed from Poage Farm Rd. to Ardon Lane. The fence company was on site this week to start the fence work around the retaining wall.
June 5, 2023
Sidewalk construction will begin June 5 at the Poage Farm intersection and proceed toward Mt. Pleasant Ave. This work is expected to take several weeks. The road will continue to be closed to thru traffic for the summer and additional road closures/barricades at specific work zones may be required as well where sight distance prevents safe passage of 2 way traffic in the work zone.

Work is ongoing to clear the trees in the area of the proposed sidewalk. Duke Energy is relocating a few utility poles that are in conflict with the proposed sidewalk. The City and the contractor have come to an agreement to close Compton Road during work hours to increase worker and motorist safety as well as provide efficiencies during construction. Work on the sections of the retaining wall required for the sidewalk will begin within the next few weeks.
